New
role for Potter star
By
Andy Dougan
HARRY Potter star Sean Biggerstaff has
launched a scheme to conjure up Scotland's next generation of movie-makers.
Glasgow-based Sean, 19, plays Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor House Quidditch
captain, in both the Harry Potter movies.
He hopes the First Writes scheme will give other Scottish youngsters the
chance of breaking into the big time. Three winners will see their own
stories turned into scripts then made into short films and screened thanks
to UGC cinemas.
The deadline for entries is January 13.
"It's a great idea," says Celia Stevenson of Scottish Screen.
"This is a first and winners have the bonus of their very own premiere
at the end of it."
First Writes is partly funded by First Light, the National Lottery-backed
scheme to help young film-makers.
